One of Ram’s most popular models has been dressed up, following customers’ requests, with a completely black exterior. The new 2013 Ram Black Express has 20-inch black aluminum wheels, a black front fascia and grille with black hex-link inserts, black rear bumper, and black Ram badges on grille and tailgate; all body side badging has been deleted. The truck comes with amber LEDs for park, turn, and position lamps, and three amber or red LEDs for the side markers; the LED tail-lamps also have black finishes. It is available with a regular, quad, or crew cab, in rear or four wheel drive.
The Ram 1500 Express also has a locking tailgate, cargo lamp, rear-bumper step pad, 6-inch-by-9-inch sideview mirrors, and rear wheel-well liners.
Ram Black Express starts at $27,050, including destination charge, and will reach dealers this month.
“With HEMI® power and sport-truck styling, the Ram 1500 Express has been one of our most popular models,” said Ram CEO Reid Bigland. The Hemi engine comes with 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, and shuts fuel to half its cylinders when they are not needed. The truck has a 160 amp alternator, 26 gallon tank, 3.55 axle ratio, 700 amp battery, trailer harness, full size spare, and heavy duty engine and transmission cooling.
The Ram 1500 Express Crew and Quad Cab include cloth or vinyl 40/20/40 split-bench seats in black or gray, with carpeted or heavy-duty vinyl floor covering. It includes air conditioning, tachometer, six speakers, 5-inch touch screen with audio jack and 1.5-amp USB input, automatic headlamps, tinted windows, and variable intermittent wipers.
Safety features include front-curtain and side air bags, anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control with roll mitigation, rain brake support, ready alert braking, traction control, hill-start assist, trailer-sway control, height-adjustable shoulder belts, and the Sentry Key® theft deterrent system.
