Chris and Tim Baldini, aka “The Flying Baldini Brothers” and their teammate Kailee Wheeler, participated in the competition as a vacation. They didn’t expect to win the top prize.
The brothers, originally from upstate New York, have raced everything from shopping carts to rally cars and were regulars at Ferrari lapping days at Watkins Glen International Raceway. They moved to Seattle about ten years ago where they built a rally car and began entering regional competitions. Ms. Wheeler joined the team and is a co-driver.
Asked about plans for the their new Dodge, Tim Baldini said they will use it in next year’s Autoweek America Adventure.
The inaugural AutoWeek America Adventure, sanctioned by the United States Auto Club, was a a time-distance run beginning in Seattle on October 26 and ending in Las Vegas just in time for the opening of the SEMA show. Winners of each day’s timed stage received a key, and were brought to the Mopar stage and given a chance to see whether their key would start the Charger.
